Startup Mixer - March 2024

Startup Mixers are for anyone who has a startup business or is interested in startups. Join us to meet other like-minded people interested in business, starting a business or just wanting to hear what is happening within our community. As we start these fun networking events for the year and in the lead up to the Startup Weekend in June, we have two great speakers. Steve Smith has many years in business, selling his company in 2007. Since then he has spent time mentoring other business owners, among many other pursuits like endurance sports, writing and being a volunteer firefighter (most recently in the Port Hills). He will be sharing his journey in business, the ups and downs, and the lessons he has learned along the way and passed on to others, he prides himself on being pragmatic and using plain English! Bridgette Slade recently opened her retail store Milk + Honey in central Blenheim. Having been a beekeeper for 10 years she has plenty of business experience however the journey of opening a retail store has been new to her. Bridgette will talk about the lead up, decision making and ups and downs of her newest venture which she says has been a steep learning curve for her! Everyone is welcome to join us. Please make sure to sign up as light snacks will be available, and drinks can be purchased at the venue. This event will be casual, fun and friendly – it’s a space for you to build your community.
